Mrs. Irene Carter of Brundidge passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Brundidge United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Shirley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Friday at the church from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. She was born April 5, 1927 in Monroe County to the late Kruger Allois and Mamie Irene Norwood Bradford. She was a member of Brundidge United Methodist Church, the UDC, DAR and she loved genealogy. She retired from The U.S. Post Office after 32 years of service. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband Calvin Quay Flowers. She is survived by her husband, Hilton Carter, Brundidge; son, Allois Flowers (Maria), Brundidge; daughters, Olivia Spurlin (Gary) and Mary Ann Flowers all of Troy; 4 grandchildren, Ramona Spurlin, Troy; Leah Spurlin, Bowling Green, KY; Rachel Hooper (Brian), Troy; and Audra Bass, Shiloh, AL; 3 great grandchildren, Connor and Luke Bass, and Matthew Hooper. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Brundidge Methodist Church or Brundidge Masonic Lodge.
