Sara McDaniel Hooten, 82, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 5th at the Troy Regional Medical Center in Troy, Alabama. Born on October 20, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of Arthur and Nettie McDaniel. She graduated from Phillips High School and was self-employed as a realtor and broker in Birmingham for almost 40 years. She was an exceptional business woman who loved helping people. She touched the lives of many families and treasured the cards and gifts that were given to her over the years by those she had helped. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Dyches of Troy, AL; son and daughter-in-law, William and Mary Ann Hooten of Troy, AL; sister, Barbara Garris of St. Augustine, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Linda McDaniel of Birmingham, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Gloria McDaniel of Birmingham, AL, and several nieces and nephews. Sara was a lifelong lover of cats, dogs, and horses, and requested that any memorial donations be made to the animal charity of your choice. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
