Joann Holley, age 68, slipped away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2014 after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born November 5, 1945 in Bristol TN. to the late James Claude and Elizabeth Kilgore McNutt; Joann spent her early years in Bristol, TN. Good fortune brought her to Alabama where she met and married her loving husband William Grady Holley 48 years ago. Their romance was forged by a deep and profound friendship that led to the birth of two devoted daughters, Lisa (Mark) Holley Oliver and Michelle Holley. Joann received another blessing with the birth of her grandchildren, Nicole Parham, Trent (Ericka) Parham, and Destin Jones. Her latest bundle of joy came with the birth of her great grandson Payton Parham. Joann is also survived by her sister Brenda (Doug) Wood, aunt: Violet Snedingar, uncle; Bob Kilgore, special cousins; Penny (Jeff) Downes and Sherry (Laszlo) Pinter, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth McNutt Leverette and father, Claude James McNutt, brothers, William Roy McNutt and Alvin Claude McNutt. Joann was devoted to her family and above all, she had a profound love for God. She attended Faith Walk Ministries in Luverne, Al. where she met and developed a special friendship with the members and they became a special part of her life. Joann became well known for her terrific cooking and the happiness that it brought her when she shared it with family and friends. Her family and friends will tell you that Joann had a genuine, compassionate heart and they were blessed by knowing her. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Faith Walk Ministries in Luverne, AL. The family will also receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m Thursday prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Faith Walk Ministries with Pastor Derek Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.
